Devices > Konica Minolta MFP

Create a New Konica Minolta Multifunctional Product

From the navigation menu, select SYSTEM ADMIN > DEVICES > KONICA MINOLTA MFP > NEW.

  1. This is where you will define a Konica Minolta MFP for use with DocuBreeze, as Collection and Distribution Points, or with iOption on those MFPs which are Open API enabled.

The fields for defining an MFP are described below.

The Mailbox Type selected: Standard, Secured, specific, or Other Bizhub, determines how DocuBreeze communicates with the engine, and which printer properties need to be defined.

If the printer you need is not configured, contact your System Administrator and use the guide shown below to determine which Mailbox Type to choose.

Note: This MFP device information is for reference only, for instructions on Creating MFP Devices, print queues and aliases, please refer to the DocuBreeze Admin Guide.

*** Secured MFPs (i.e., 7145, 920, and 1050) allow for User Authentication and Account Tracking at the MFP Panel. Although User Authentication and Account Tracking can be managed by DocuBreeze for the Other bizhub family of MFPs (i.e., C450, C550), the application cannot manage these features for the secured family MFPs. However, if a secured MFP mailbox is set up at the panel after entering an authorized user name and password, DocuBreeze can set up and use the box as a Collection Point.

Prior to adding a scanner to your DocuBreeze configuration, at least one mailbox must be available on a KMBS scanner (MFP). Setting up a new mailbox can be done either at the KMBS MFP panel or by accessing the device configuration via it's network address. Please note that instructions are available in the user's guides that came with your Konica Minolta multi-functional product.

Enable MFP for:

IMPORTANT: You cannot uncheck the "Collection or Distribution Point" checkbox once the points have been created for the MFP.

Configure MFP Devices

The DocuBreeze application has been updated to discover any OP Task-capable MFPs. In order to use the MFP Devices with DocuBreeze, they need to be enabled for each of the DocuBreeze functions. Clicking on the checkboxes will display additional fields to be defined to enable the device.

You may Enable MFPs for use as Collection Points, Distribution Points, and for OP Tasks.

Enable Collection Point:

Complete this section to use the MFP to collect files scanned on the device.

NOTE: Be aware that if a MFP is set up to check User Authentication and Account Tracking, this means that any user who wants to access the MFP must be associated with at least one of the Accounts being Tracked. If the MFP is also set to "Synchronize," not only is the user login and password verified, but the validated user must also have an account.

If a Task fails due to a connection problem with the device, take a look at the security set up on the MFP and verify that the user was authorized for the feature they are trying to execute and has a valid account.

Department Name: Enter the name of the department account to track.
Password: Enter a department password.

(Mail)Boxes: Enter a box number between 1 - 999999999 and a corresponding password (not required).

Click the Add button to add the mailbox to the list that DocuBreeze can use for collecting scanned documents. (For the example, use mailboxes 7777 and 8888 with or without a password.)

Click Save to save the Collection Point you have defined.

Enable Distribution Point:

This feature allows users to use the MFP as a printer by identifying it by any of its Konica Minolta Printer Aliases. To create an alias for the MFP, you will need to know it's PPD number. (Please see the instruction in the DocuBreeze Admin Guide to create an alias for your MFP.) If you already have an alias for your printer, continue with the Distribution Point steps.

  1. Use the drop-down list to select an alias that DocuBreeze can use.
  2. Click ADD to make the alias available for use. If not enabled as a Distribution Point, DocuBreeze will not be able to print files to this device and your Konica Minolta MFP will not be used as a Distribution Point.
  3. Give the printer a Name, and select the appropriate alias from the drop-down list. (Please note that you can give the printer any name you want.)

  1. Click SAVE.

Enable OP Task

Complete this section to enable a bizHub MFP for OP Tasks. OP Tasks allow you run jobs using the Konica Minolta OpenAPI service from the panel on the (MFP) scanner, rather than from the computer. The set up differs based on the MFP's Konica Minolta bizHub Family type.

For the family type Other BizHub:

Name: Enter a Name for the device.
Description: Enter an Optional description.
Host Address: Enter the IP address of the MFP.
MFP Family: Select the Other BizHub family from the drop-down.
Mark the checkbox to Enable OP Task. DocuBreeze will retrieve information for the host address.

If the IP address cannot be found, DocuBreeze will display the message shown above. Re-enter the correct IP address for your other BizHub device and click Requery to check again. When the OP capable MFP is found, DocuBreeze will retrieve the information necessary to define the device. The screen also indicates whether or not the machine is Registered. Fill in any fields that have not been populated. Under Application Settings, you can identify DocuBreeze Indexes that may be used with the OP Task.

Port Number: The port number through which DocuBreeze will communicate with the MFP.
Use SSL: Tells the application to use a secure, or encrypted, protocol for communications.
MFP Administrator Password: The administration password for the MFP is required and is the same password you would enter at the printer for Admin Mode.
Connection Authentication:
Connection Username: The OpenAPI may require authentication prior to use. At the MFP Admin screen, press System Connection > OpenAPI Setting > Authentication. The username that exists here must be entered in the Connection Username field on the MFP device form.
Connection Password: This is the password that corresponds to the username above.
Application Name: This field is required and must be unique, and will be displayed on the button that is created on the MFP panel.

INDEX FORM: An Index can be added to an OP Task when the task form is created. An Index may not be added at the MFP panel.

NOTE: OP Tasks can also have an associated Index, but indexes associated with the task may require a firmware level of 2.0 or greater. If you have an Index associated with an OP Task, and it does not process successfully, please contact your Konica Minolta Technician to see if your device can be upgraded to the latest firmware.

Click Save. Once the other bizhub device is Saved, it can be Registered by clicking on the green checkmark at the bottom of the screen.

Enable Standard or Secured MFP for OP Tasks

If you are using a Standard or Secured MFP, such as the 7145 MFP (Standard Family originally, newer firmware makes it Secured), it must be configured on the printer panel to communicate with DocuBreeze and to have access to OP Tasks. The 7145 will not work with OP Tasks if LDAP authentication is enabled.

This MFP is enabled in DocuBreeze, but configured via the MFP panel. Please refer to the (System) Admin Guide Appendix for steps on setting up an MFP of the Standard or Secured family. Please note that the 7165 (Standard family) is not supported for OP Tasks.

Edit or Delete a Konica Minolta MFP

Please note that if the MFP device is included in an active or scheduled Task, it can not be deleted. The creator of an MFP Device can Delete it, as may the System Administrator.

1. If you are not already at the Devices screen, select System Admin > Devices from the menu.
2. Point to Konica Minolta MFP and select Edit/Delete.

3. Using the Search screen, enter your search criteria and click Search. Select the device to be Edited from the results list returned.
4. Edit: To edit the device, select it from the results list and make your changes. The only information that cannot be changed is the device name. Click Save to save your changes.
5. Delete: To delete the device, select the device and click Delete. Conflicts identified (such as the MFP is defined as a Collection or Distribution Point) must be resolved before you can delete the device.
