In computer networking, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, or LDAP, is a networking protocol for querying and modifying directory services running over TCP/IP. A directory is a set of information with similar attributes organized in a logical, hierarchical manner (like a phone book).
LDAP is an alternative user authentication mechanism that may be used with
an application. Many companies have LDAP servers, like Active Directory, or
user Login Authentication via Open LDAP, to ensure the security of the network.
The sample screen (below) shows Active Directory fields.
LDAP
If the application is to be configured with a Microsoft Active Directory LDAP server, choose Active Directory Authentication from the menu. LDAP will configure the application system to use your existing LDAP directory for user authentication. Each user is considered valid in the application, if they are able to authenticate to the LDAP server. See the next section for Open LDAP.
Enter the fields with the appropriate data:
Host Address: the hostname or IP Address of your LDAP Server
Port: the port on which the LDAP Server is "listening" - usually
389
Domain name: the domain to which the users belong
This configuration means that when a user logs into an application, the data is passed to the Active Directory LDAP server for authentication. If this is a valid user and password, they will be allowed to login. The Reset button will reset the field values to the last Saved setting.
You may use the Test button to verify your settings. A message will indicate whether or not the test was successful.
It is important to note that when using LDAP authentication, the user's account must first be created in the application. This enables the correct permissions for the user account. If the user account is not created in the application, the LDAP user will not be able to login.
OTHER
If the application needs to be configured to use another common type of LDAP server, such as Open LDAP, choose Login Authentication from the pull-down menu. This method attempts to login to the LDAP server as a user. Users stored in the LDAP tree are allowed to login with read-only access. If a user can login to the LDAP server, they are assumed to be valid users.
Enter these fields with your appropriate data:
Host Address: the hostname or IP Address of your LDAP Server
Port: the port on which the LDAP Server is "listening" - usually
389
User Name Field: the field in the LDAP tree which contains the user
identification (e.g. uid = joeuser)
User Tree Root: the branch where user accounts are stored. This is appended
to the user name when attempting to login (e.g. uid = joeuser, ou = people,
dc = sec, dc = net)
Click on the Test button to authenticate any LDAP user. Reset will set
the fields back to the last Saved settings.
Select the DocuBreeze > Session menu to set the application session timeout value. This value sets the amount of time in seconds (the minute conversion is shown for clarity) after which an inactive user session will result in an automatic logout from DocuBreeze.
To change the timing, change the value in the Session Timeout field and click Save. (The Reset button resets the field to the last saved setting.)
This administrative page allows you to upload an image file, in GIF format, to be used on any Bar Code Cover pages created in DocuBreeze.
On this screen, you can define the settings for the different log files saved on the application server.
First select on of the DocuBreeze Modules: Task Processor, OP Task Server, MFP Authentication Server, or MFP Authentication Listener.
Choose how often the log files should be Rolled (saved off and start
a new one): Daily, Weekly, or Larger Than. When Larger Than is selected,
a field will become available for you to enter the number of megabytes.
Compression: This can be set for No Compression or Compress as .gz, creating
a "gzip" file.
Number of old log files to retain: Set the number of log files to store.
When the number is exceeded, the oldest file is deleted.
Reset: The Reset button will reset the field information and settings
to the last saved settings.
Save: Saves any changes you make to the logging settings.
You can use Admin to synchronize DocuBreeze with your Corporate Address Book using this page.
Enabled - Mark the checkbox to enable this feature.
Host Address - Enter the Host address of the server.
Base DN - Enter DN information.
Domain - Enter the Domain Name.
Username - Enter the login name for a valid account.
Password - Enter the password for the admin account.
DocuBreeze, like Admin, can be configured to display any language installed and enabled. Select DocuBreeze > Settings > Translation to open the dialog below. The Language screen contains all installed languages. To add a new language for DocuBreeze, click New.
You can create any language, based on an existing reference language, and make it available to all users of the system.
This page defaults to select ALL folders for backup. You can Select a User from the list and De-select any folders you want Excluded from the Backup. (Remove the mark from the check box.)
NOTE: Be aware that if a folder is excluded from a Backup, restoration from that Backup file will not restore the excluded folder.
Selecting the Active Users menu will display the active logged in users, what page they are currently using, how log they have been logged into DocuBreeze, and the network address of their PC.
Should you experience problems when running OP Tasks on a bizhub 7145 family machine (7222, 7228 and 7235) or in the event of a DocuBreeze system backup, you may need to rebuild the LDAP tree used by DocuBreeze. This process removes the old tree and builds a clean one.
To execute the rebuild, click the "Rebuild" icon.
Application Log Files are specific to the installed applications, such as DocuBreeze.
Allows you to view the current DocuBreeze logs.
